For years I've had this fascination with names. Whenever I hear names I immediately associate them with the first thing that pops into my head. Being in the army I come across some interesting last names to say the least. I mean you know you have your common names like Smith, Peters, Garcia (that's me by the way! Well me and like a million other ones Ha Ha) but my goal in my Army life is to find those names that just put a smile on my face or just plain makes me LOL. Rank plays a big part in these funny names so here's a list of the names I've been looking for so far:
1. Sergeant Pepper
2. General Mills
3. Captain Crunch
4. Private Room
5. Colonel Sanders
6. Captain America
7. Major Payne
8. Lieutenant Dan
9. Corporal Punishment
10.Private Pyle
Ok these are the ones that I can think of for now oddly enough I haven't met any of these people in the army yet but I have a while to go in my service so I hope I get to meet at least a few of them I know that would make me laugh to no end. The reason for this post in the first place was that I came across an interesting name on Facebook tonight, it was someone with the last name Lord! The first thing that popped into my head and I said out loud to Renee was this: "Would it be funny if this couple had a baby boy and they named him Jesus and his middle initial S?! His name would be Jesus S. Lord!!" We both just bursted into laughter!! Yes folks I can be funny sometimes and I hope I didn't offend any of you with my terrible joke it's just like I said sometime I hear a name and say the first thing that pops into my head!!

I've always liked interesting names, too...never liked my name, though!
Praying!
Psalms 27:6-7 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

This is REALLY strange... my curiosity got the better of me so I thought 'I wonder what the real first name of the person on facebook was' (Lord) so I did a search on facebook of the name Lord. I have over 500 names to look through if I choose (no not going to) but the entire first page of results (all DIFFERENT versions of the name: first name, last name, taking the mick sort of names) and EVERY one of them is listed as 1 or 2 mutual friends. I haven't looked beyond page one yet.
I know a family with the last name Lord. I went to high school with 2 of the kids. The boy's name was not Jesus though ;)
I also went to school with 2 girls who had the last name Scales. Their first names were Harmony and Melody. Also had a teacher in high school who's last name was Traffica. She named her son Chase...and said she never thought about "chase traffic" when she named him!!!!
We see some very interesting names in the Army too. My husband is always coming home and telling me about funny names....and people who give their kids weird names. Just a few weeks ago, he came across an Army family of 4. The husband and wife had the same name(one of the common unisex names). They had 2 kids...and they gave them the same exact name. So, all 4people in the family had the same name!
I love names!
When my kids were small, their pediatrician was named Dr.Gabe Payne.
I wondered why my son threw a fit when he had to go there! He finally told me one day that the doctor was so mean they named him Dr. Pain! lol
My surname is Pope - people always find it quite funny that the side of my family it comes from is Church of England rather than Roman Catholic!
I also had a history teacher called Miss Bosworth - as in Battle of Bosworth - my mum found that hilarious and thinks all teachers should have names relevant to their subject lol
If you like corny names, go to http://www.cartalk.com/content/about/credits/credits.html - the show is great, but the credits are hilarious.
My dear wife worked for a client whose name was Richard Head.
Cheers!
When I worked at the Cadet Chaplain's Office at the Air Force Academy I helped out at one of the stations for inprocessing new cadets. This one cadet came through with the last name Beloved; his first name Dear. I am not kidding. In the next few years his sister and brother also came through (I couldn't forget the last name of Beloved)...the brother had a name that "went" with Beloved but I can't remember what it was, but the sister's first name was something really unusual. Years later I thought my memory must not be right, as I just couldn't believe his name was Dear Beloved, but I looked him up on the military's Global Address Listing and sure enough, there was Lt Dear Beloved.
I've seen a "Major Sergeant" and "Major Colonel" before and don't remember his first name, but his rank was Lt and last name Sergeant.
LOL at Shelley's comment about the family of 4 with the same name. Can you imagine phone calls to that household? "Is Kelly Smith there?" Um...which one, there are 4 of us!
It was great meeting you, Renee, her mom, and the kids in DC!
I have known personally a Major Payne, a Lieutenant Dan, a SGT Major and a Sergeant Sergeant.
I'll have to think of a few funny ones we've had...sometimes I feel bad, especially when my husband was a DS, you know you're a target right away, lol
When I was in high school, I had "Mr. Painter" for art. And I had Mrs. Kochit (pronounced "cookit") for Home Ec!
